How can I make a zen theme in my bedroom?
A Zen bedroom is called such because it induces a state of relaxation and rejuvenation when you are resting inside it. When your bedroom is decorated Zen-style, there is a higher likelihood that you will fall asleep more quickly, and you will be less restless throughout the night. There are many ways to decorate your bedroom using the Zen theme. Some tips are listed below:
1. Clear the bedside table of unnecessary stuff such as documents, files, telephones, toys, medications, and other gadgets that will make you think about anything else other than sleep. Your bedside table should only contain things that you associate with rest: moisturizer, a book, or a glass of water.
2. Most people cannot sleep through noise. If you are a victim of insomnia because of the noises coming in through the wall, it may be time to rearrange your bedroom. Soundproofing your room completely can prove to be too expensive, but you can re-align the shelves to lean where the “noisiest” walls are. The solid mass of the books and the shelves will absorb the sounds.
3. You can actually be disturbed by what you don’t see. Appliances that emit electromagnetic waves such as a mobile phone, the television, a radio alarm clock, or the computer emit pollution of the electromagnetic kind even if they are turned off. Move these items out of your room, and replace your digital alarm clock with the wind-up kind.
4. Don’t go to bed thinking about your day at work or the tasks you still have to do. List down the things that worry you then keep it out of sight before you go to sleep. You can deal with them tomorrow. You may want to indulge in a relaxing bath before coming in to your bedroom so that your muscles will be more relaxed.
5. Your room should be cool. During the summer, remove blankets or insulated covers and spray a fine mist of water on your body before going to sleep.
