Yes you will need your own hosted website for your business. Dont waste your time with a free site.
The hosted site will cost you less than $45. a year. That includes everything you need including the domain name. It also gives you the best programs to make the website.
I suggest WordPress. Its easy to use even if youve never made a website before. Check out the article below, and good luck.

As you may know a domain name is just a name, not a real website. If you are going to create your website: 1- Buy a domain name. A domain name is a name you want to call your website (ex: http://www.yahoo.com). To get a domain name, you have to pay an annual fee to a registrar for the right to use that name. 2- Buy a web hosting service to provide your online space and enable you to get your website online at your purchased domain name.
If you want to start your website I recommend purchase your domain and hosting together. In this way it is possible to get your domain for free. Some hosting services offer this gift today.
As an experienced webmaster I recommend BH web hosting which I’m sure it would work for you and fulfill all your requirements. They have a really great offer for hosting & I have used them for over 3 yrs now, and have never had a single problem with them.
You can reach reviews about this web hosting provider and its latest DISCOUNT COUPONS at:
http://www.threehosts.com/business/1st
They also offer “Free Site Builder” that helps you build your web pages without difficulty if you are not skilled in using any website creating program. (WYSIWYG: What You See Is What You Get) You can use this service optionally. You can also create the pages offline with your favorite program (DreamWeaver, FrontPage, etc.), and then upload them to your web host. This is another easy way to get your website online.
******IMPORTANT********
* This service was awarded “The Best Web Host OF The Year”.
* If you sign up for this service you will have $75 credits to advertise your website with the google & yahoo search engines for free!
* You Can Register A Free Domain or Use Your Existing Domains. They Support All Domain Names.

The easiest way to create one for a novice is to use an online website builder because it requires no knowledge of computer programming languages like HTMl, Flash, etc.
For a personal website, the one I recommend is the Lite version for US $9.75/mo at http://www.gobuildwebsite.com/signup.htm because it includes purchase of a new domain name, hosting, website so you don’t have to go looking for the missing pieces of the puzzle to get your website launched. And US $9.75/mo (paid annually) is a good price for all of that with no hassles.
Good luck!

Step 1) Shortlist some ideas for domains you think suitable
Step 2) Check to see they’re still available:
http://domainspage.co.uk/
Step 3) Sign up for a package at 1&1 Internet Ltd + buy the domain name(s) you wish to purchase…. been using them myself since 2001 without a glitch.
http://1and1.co.uk/xml/init/?k_id=3794345
hosting packages start at £1.99 per month
Or you can simply buy the domain name, and point it at free hosting elsewhere such as: http://sites.google.com/ or http://dir.webring.com/signup?afid=jduck1979 (seeing as YAHOO! are mean’t to be ditching their famous free “Geocities” free hosting pretty soon)
Step 4) To build the website, download “Netobjects Fusion Essentials”.. which is an easy to use FREE website building software (a stripped down version of an expensive one)
http://netobjects.com/html/essentials.html
Then it’s simply a matter of uploading the site, and updating it occasionally.
Here’s one i prepared earlier for my Dad’s grocery shop:
